City of Idar-Oberstein
Occasion
Opening of the Rhineland-Palatinate Summer of Culture on 7/8 May 2010
Order
A staging on the "Nahe superstructure". The staging is to make the river the theme and take up the art of gemstone cutting, which is so important for Idar-Oberstein.
Staging idea
A river of lights made of 40,000 candles makes the Nahe, which has been "swallowed" for 25 years, visible again. The public can stroll along the stream of candles on two evenings.
Theatre scenes are shown in a loop at ten stations. Theater Anu develops a fantastic story that combines the themes of "identity" and "beauty of gems".
