Darmstadt | 100 years of Bauhaus
We proudly present our two performances PERPTUUM MOBIE / Paul Scheerbart and KALLEIDOSKOP / BAUHAUS at the BAUWHAT?-festival! Both performances are part of the big BAUHAUS festival in Dessau / 100 years of BAUHAUS.
Day and night I keep seeing wheels in front of my eyes – whatever else I may think of – wheels, wheels, always wheels – it’s almost scary.
Paul Scheerbart
Inspired by the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Bauhaus, the Staatstheater Darmstadt will inquire about the timeliness of the avant-garde art school from June 17 to 29 in a varied program. The stages include the world-famous Triadic Ballet and works by copy & waste, F. Wiesel, “Abfall der Welt” by Thomas Köck and the German premiere of the dance piece “From Bauhaus to Playhouse” by Storm.
Numerous lectures by Bauhaus experts put the basic ideas of the historic Bauhaus in a contemporary context and on the two festival saturdays the Georg-Büchner Platz becomes a festival meadow.
BAUWHAT? – In addition to the numerous performances of the performing arts, the Staatstheater bids farewell to the historic Bauhaus and, in cooperation with DIESE Studio and Florian Walzel of h_da, founds a summer school with students for contemporary interdisciplinary art and design. From 17.06. on the process and results of this Summer School can be experienced on Georg-Büchner-Platz.
