Staging idea
Theater Anu founds the fictitious company Future Artefacts - a collective of artists and experts from various fields - which specialises in unusual problem-solving strategies. Following the company's philosophy "The world is not made of problems, but of solutions!", Future Artefacts launches the multi-week experiment of their PAN process together with the local residents' initiative. Poetic ANalogy finds creative solutions and forms the basis of the temporary performance garden ANALOGIA.

Special project "Theatre in Public Space" | Fonds Darstellende Künste e. V.
For the first time, the Board of Trustees of the Federal Cultural Foundation decided at the end of 2012 to give the Performing Arts Fund to provide additional funds in the amount of 600,000 euros, thus following the reasoning of the Fund's bodies as well as the recommendation of the Budget Committee of the German Bundestag.
With this unique funding, the special project "Theatre in Public Space" was announced nationwide, for which 165 groups submitted project applications. The projects to be funded from all genres of the performing arts should Un-located transforming them into theatrical spaces of action and temporary new habitats and creating lasting awareness of the original meaning of these Un-located and stimulate discourse on creative new concepts of use. The focus here is on the experimental conquest and use of the Un-places in municipalities and rural areas - in the context of active participation by citizens of all generations and civil society initiatives. In other words, a special artistic project with a cultural-political impact and social relevance in order to raise awareness of the art form of "theatre in public spaces" and to strengthen independent theatre nationwide.
Since antiquity and the later Shakespearean theatre and the Commedia dell'arte, the enthusiasm, pleasure and attraction that tragedies, comedies and satyr plays aroused in the audience have been handed down, and today's "theatre in public spaces" with its diverse and interdisciplinary means of expression takes up this theme. Nevertheless, this art form in Germany still has a hard time getting the recognition and support it deserves. Quite a few curators as well as many a feature article like to dismiss this specific art form as external material battles or empty street theatre, thus manifesting common clichés and stigmatisations. Yet it is precisely these actors who repeatedly raise questions about new artistic formats, innovative means of expression and intelligent forms of "complicity" with the audience. In their performances, they constantly renegotiate the boundaries between actors and spectators, deal with socially relevant questions and place participation at the centre of their artistic work.
Of the 165 project applications from all the federal states, the Performing Arts Fund supported 18 projects that will be realised and presented to the public in 2013 and 2014.
