Idar-Oberstein, Kirchenbollenbach | The Sound of Industrialisation

The choirs of the Obere Nahe and Idar Oberstein choirs, the orchestra L' arpa festante and Theater Anu from Berlin will take their visitors on a sound journey from the beginning of industrialisation to the near future. And to enhance the acoustic listening pleasure, visitors are invited to wear the blindfolds provided during the production.
Music and theatre represent people's dreams and realities - they can be catalysts, have a socially unifying effect and reflect political and social conditions.
Many compositions of the 19th century, for example, are very much in the spirit of the industrial revolution and the associated upheavals in society and the church.
These changes in working and private life have also had a lasting impact on our region.
The evening focuses on the Protestant, entrepreneur and politician Carl Ferdinand Stumm. With roots in the Hunsrück, he was one of the most influential personalities in Germany at the time. The music of the time is equally prominent, with compositions by Johannes Brahms, Theodore Gouvy and Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy.

The pieces for choir, large orchestra and soloists, Johannes Brahms' "Schicksalslied" with texts by Hölderlin, the "Walpurgisnacht" after a text by Goethe, composed by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy and "Stabat Mater" by Theodore Gouvy, are placed in the thematic context.

The Berlin Theater Anu acoustically expands the musical works and makes the change of times tangible in impressive texts.
